Well then, I have a Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB52, and I wanted to change the songs that were on the SD Card that was in it. I put some new ones in and it wouldn't play. So I went back and formatted the card, then put some songs back on. Still wouldn't play.

I then searched on the net and found this:
This kind of problem is normally caused when not formatting the card in accordance with the FAT 16 specification.

a) Win XP

The pointer originally defined with the value “1” by Microsoft should point at the beginning of the FAT. Adherence to this rule was recommended for hard-encoded systems and is critical for proper operation. In XP, however, Microsoft used the value “4”.

Since the Woodstock expects the value “1” in accord with the FAT specification, this means that all cards formatted on an XP machine do not work properly in the car stereo. The same is true for other readers and writers, since they all use the XP driver. For this reason, Blaupunkt has equipped the Woodstock DAB 53 with its own formatting functionality.

So I think I need to format the card in FAT16, but apparently Win XP won't do it.

Does anyone know any possible way to do this?

Many thanks.

Okay I've just tried formatting the card to FAT16 through DOS, but it won't let me. I've done it to just FAT, do you reckon that this will work if it needs to be FAT16? https://www.facebook.com/gra.klondike I wouldn't have thought it would but don't really understand so don't know.

I think the clue might be in the question Rob Find the bit in the manual where it tells you how to do this, and format the card. XP shouldnt give a monkeys what format the card is, and the stereo ought to be happy...

Ah, but it isn't a DAB53 with that formatting capability, its a DAB52.

Anyway, problem solved.
