Hello all,

Just wondering really, I must have pressed or depressed something that makes my computer forget the websites I visit, it's since my son has been fiddling with things, including de fragmenting the damn thing.

I used just go to the internet explorer address line at the top of the screen, it would drop down the stuff I tend to visit, sites like this one for instance, I used to click on it, and there I would be, already logged in, no need to constantly log in. However, now, I have to go through not only typing pistonheads, but logging in.....the hardship of it!!!!

Ebay is the same, I used to be logged in all the time. grumpy

I have looked on all the relevant pages to find out why and so far drawn a blank....damned annoying...anyone know why?

Grateful for any pointers.
Mike.

PS Google is my home page, and as far as I'm aware that doesn't remember web sites either...banghead

you installed anything recently that deletes your cookies?

check the settings in IE to see if cookies are deleted when the browser is closed rather than kept on your system, also some programs like Window Washer and other 'privacy' aids have similar side effects...

(additional - if you don't use IE, then firefox will have the same settings in the same area)

Installed about the sametime that websites started forgetting you?

If so then yes, it's tidying up and being a little over protective.

I've heard a few bad things about the blueyonder pc guard thingy - you're far better off with a decent firewall and antivirus (something like Zone Alarm and Kaspersky AV or McAfee etc)

for the sake of completeness, you could always run a virus check on your pc (use Homecall online here - needs IE to run though cos it uses an ActiveX control) and give it a scan with Ad-Aware just incase you've picked up a surf-by nasty

Edited because I inadvertenly linked to a parcel delivery company!

Well, I have turned off everything apart from the firewall and anti virus, and ie is remembering my websites, but pistonheads doesn't keep me logged in when I bin out of it....however ebay is remembering me.

Is this a ph thing? I can't remember if I had to re log in after every visit or not now....nuts

Nope PH remembers me fine. Although if you visit it from a different domain it'll think your logged out (i.e. logging in from www.pistonheads.co.uk doesn't make you logged in from www.pistonheads.com)... could that be it?
