Yesterday I installed my BT Home Hub and the accompanying software.

After installation when I went to open a second IE window, the first one closed automatically. I tried double-clicking on the desktop icon, using the 'new window' option on the file tab and clicking on the start bar.

I figured the BT software might have messed about with the settings. But couldn't work out the issue.

I wanted to try IE7, so just installed that. Again the same thing happened when I double clicked on the icon.

What is going on and how do I change it?

Go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and uncheck reuse windows for launching shortcuts.
If this is unchecked try removing any third party toolbars. If it still dosent work scan for malware using spybot serach & destroy or adaware.

Damn it! mad The problem is back and the box is definitely unchecked. I've tried checking it and applying, then going back and unchecking it again. No change. Help!

Go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and uncheck enable third party browser extensions. If this cures the problem then you will need to find which exctensions is causing the problem. If it dosent it likley you have malware on your machine and you need to run Spybot, adaware or the like.
