Domain Name Registration
Discussion
I'd like to register a few domain names a bit speculatively (but not with the intention to sell on) so I'm after a cheap company to buy them through. My current place cost £9.99 for both .com and .co.uk (two years for .co.uk) but does anyone recommend anwhere cheaper but still reliable?
I'd like to retain control of the DNS info & don't really want to get stuck in the trap of an unresponsive company holding the registration to my domains if I want to transfer away from them at a later date.

I thought Mr Beestons name might crop up before too long.....
It certianly appears that the PH webhost of choice is favourably priced when compared to my current place. Quick question for the man himself if (when!) he appears on this thread - do you have a multi-domain hosting package? I have a few domain names currently and would be interested in moving if it's economically to do so!

Sorry, I'll give you the 51p at BTaP

What one should also consider is 'How much time should be spent surfing in order in order to save this 51p'. IMO the service at Register1 is second to none, and well worth the 51p that I might save looking at alternatives.
What worries me is when they get so big that my requests to have our firewall changed are not actioned and completed in the time it takes me to go make a cup of coffee....

I think Plottys points was he'd over quoted the price
we ARE cheaper than anyone I've found in europe for .com .net .org domains, and in the top 5 cheapest for .eu and .uk. VDS sales are what make me smile tho

You can host as many personal domains as you like on the VDS Pro, however only the Primary domain gets its own Control Panel and Branded Webmail, the rest just 'share space' on it.
We do offer discounts for multiple VDS purchases!!

Sounds like the Pro could be just what I want & seems more competitive than my current provider in a couple of respects!
I'll have to check when my hosting is due for renewal and maybe drop you an email closer to the time!
