I've finally had enough, while Outlook's filter is OK, more and more rubbish is slipping through these days and while on holiday I had the joy of receiving and deleting 50+ spames a day when connecting via my phone so hate to think of the GPRS charges incurred - I had to switch to OWA in the end as the productivity bonus of getting e-mail abroad wouldn't counter the costs of receiving mail.

So I've installed SPAMfighter's Exchange Module this morning having looked through the options. Their bumf says all the right things, but most important of all (to me) is that their prices are great (<£100 for five mailboxes). I've installed it as a 30 day trial and it's already caught 22 messages correctly, so I'm pretty happy.

I was wondering if anyone else has heard of it and has any views good or bad as to whether this will be a good long-term solution for me?

It's a SoHo setup here by the way, the server is used just for my own company so there are just five mailboxes to monitor.

Exchange 2003 SP2 has its own spam filter called Intelligent Message Filter you can also configure exchange to use an RBL. www.spamhaus.org is a good RBL and is free for non commercial use.

Excellent, hadn't looked around the changes in SP2 particularly.

Now got sender denial, server content and client content filtering, so hopefully the torrent will reduce to a trickle, leaving me more time to spend on important matters, like browsing PH

www.nospamtoday.com - quite cheap, very effective! little bit clunky in operation in terms of filter re-training though, i.e. batch files galore.

The Exchange spamfilter that uses blacklists does not work with Small Business Server, only the full monty ... I use McAfee Exchange AntiSpam . Works very well and was about 400£ for 20 email boxes and 50£ a year for updates ...

Wrong It does work with SBS. We have a client with an SBS box running it.

I'm sure I read somewhere that it is not supported. I put it into mine ages ago and it seemed to have no effect, so therefore assumed that what I'd read was correct.

The McAffee stuff is very effective though, the users really have not seen a spam email for months .. Quite impressed
