This is bugging me and I have no explanation for it. Both machines below running Windows XP Proessional SP2.

A couple of weeks ago, I turned my laptop on and after what seemed like an eternity after the Windows splash screen was up, it finally booted. In all, a delay of nearly 2 minutes. I put it down to my PC trying to find wireless networks in the area fow hich it does not have permissions.

Today, I boot up my desktop PC - and it is doing the same. I timed it as one minute from the Windows splash screen disappearing to finally getting to my desktop. In the meantime, the screen remianed blank.

Now, I have not been fiddling, loading new software or anything like that. This has just "happened" seemingly without cause and with a couple of weeks inbetween it first happening to the laptop, and now the desktop. I hate computers sometimes!!!!

Any ideas guys? A secret Windows update that has kaputted everything.
