So my laptop connects to the wireless no problem but the minute I take the power supply out the laptop and go for a wander it takes about 2 minutes and the wireless loses connection. Manually repair and I get it back but then 2 minutes later...........etc repeat to fade
Plug the power supply back in and no problems.

All my streams of watching streaming premiership action whilst I am in the bath are fading away( yes i know, electrics---water!) :-(

The power settings are to shut stuff down after 1 hour or so, so that isn't it. Does anyone know of any other settings which might be causing this?

Poke around control panel and/or the Wireless driver. It might well have a setting to disable itself on battery.

Device manager > Wireless Adapter > Properties > Power Management. Uncheck the "allow computer to turn off this device to save power" box.

I'm still having problems dropping the connection, under all power circumstances. It must be the laptop because I haven't had problems with any other laptops and I am right next to the router.
Can anyone make some suggestions of things to check please. I've checked out all those power settings and set them up right.

If it's an external card... buy another.
If it's an internal card... open the hatch and make sure the connections marked 'ant' are nice and tight and that the card is well seated. If that doesn't work, go on to e-bay and type "mini-PCI" in to the search, you'll see loads of replacement wireless cards, most of which come with drivers. If that doesn't work then it probably means the antenna in the screen is knakkered, right swine to replace those are, rip out the mini-PCI unit (flog em on ebay) so it's not using battery power and use an external card.
