dual screen (dell laptop+TFT) problem

Just started a new job - been given a Dell Latitude D620 laptop. It came with a standard Dell 17" screen which I connected to and had no problems extending my desktop across both screens using a standard vga connecter.

A Dell 19" screen was hiding in a corner, apparently for me So I have connected that up instead. I can view a mirror image of my laptop screen on the TFT, but cannot for the life of me extend the desktop (it just unchecks the option when I apply). If I select to use the TFT only, then the display reverts to laptop screen only

I've tried both analog VGA connector and digital DVI...

Help?!

Go here:support and see if there's any new drivers.Update the graphics card drivers and look for monitor drivers. IIRC if windows uses it's standard monitor drivers it can't stretch the desktop.I could be very wrong with that info tho but still worth a try
