hello all.can anyone help me with a connection problem before i pull anymore of my hair out?we changed from dial up to broadband a while ago(ntl),and everything was fine apart from one little thing, which didn`t bother me at the time.whenever we click on a "contact us " type of section of a website, the old dial up email box appears, with outlook express (which we no longer use).this wasn`t a problem but now i use an mp3 player, the computer will not automatically look up track info, and will not connect to itunes, citing a connection error.any help would be much appreciated. (i feel like such a luddite!! does anyone want to buy a one owner horse and cart??)

Click on the Tools button in the Internet Explorer menu and select Internet Options. Then select the Connections tab and click against the radio button next to "never dial a connection" - job done

Sounds like Outlook, and perhaps other programs, have been configured to use a specific connection. You can edit the account to let it use any existing connection so it can connect over broadband. If you are accessing the broadband via a router of some sort, you can also change the dial-up options to never dial a connection, that'll stop it trying to bring up the dial-up connection when it needs to access the internet.

Often with Windows just deleting the DUN entry (if it's no longer used) will sort the issue out as Lookout and AIEEE will complain bitterly and then revert to their defaults (which is to hunt around for a LAN connection, especially on XP).
