I'm finally starting to get the text together on my site bounce

However there's no point in doing it if people aren't looking so I'm now looking at Google Adwords.

The terms I'm considering are ranging between 4p and £1.01 to get a ranking of 1-3. Does this sound about right? How many terms/phrases are you using to get a decent return on your spending?

Example: My primary goal is to sell network support contracts in Peterborough.

But not everyone knows that's what they want, some may think they want PC repair. Is it worth whacking pc in as a term?

I'm willing to pay top price to get 1-3 on any network support queries in Peterborough but should I pay for a few near miss enquiries too?

According to the Webmaster tools I've got all the right words on my site in a native Google search thanks to a bit of rewriting but I'm currently off the radar if you put my preferred search terms in.

To give you an idea.

I've been running an adwords campaign for 3 weeks.

On general terms for my field, capping at about 30p

30,000 page impressions, 600 odd clicks.

Cost so far just under £200 come up between Pos 1 and Pos 6 averaging around 3.7 across all 5 ads.

Position is not just cost driven its also CTR driven so if you have a good ad you have to spend less to get higher adwords rankings.

I'd be careful paying up to £1 per click unless you keywords are very very specific as you could spend a lot of cash very quickly.

Whatever you do though dont ignore your organic ranking as thats browsing rather than buying traffic...

Hmmm, Google still has my old page in cache... Is it possible to kick the new one into action, it should come much further up the search rankings.

You make a good point about the organic search, I would like to see where the new page ends up before spending my hard earned

It's a fast way to spend money, but can work.

I've read it's about an 80/20 split between normal/adwords.

My understanding is the Google has more than one database that cycle round. You'll have to wait for the next one that'll have your updated site.

Surely what you pay is irrelevant, it's the return on investment that matters. If you pay £100 per click but make £150 from each one, then it's a no brainer.

Set a budget that's sufficiently low that you wont spend a fortune in a day, and then start from there.
