Hi all.
I recently renewed my Norton Anti Virus and upgraded it to NAV 2007.
However, due to the awful instructions given by Norton, I have not yet been able to load it onto my PC.
Result, I have been without any virus protection for 48 hours now.
My PC man is coming today to install it for me.
I have just turned on my PC and notice that when I try to open a particular website (I have tried three, so far), they start to open up in the correct site name, but then switch to what sounds like a porn site.
What has happened?

Sounds like you've managed to pick up some spyware. Get your PC man to do a scan and install anti-spyware progs loads of free ones out there so don't pay for any

Using another browser (i.e. Firefox) snag SpyBot S & D and AdAware.
Install both, update both, Unplug net connection. ,let them rip one after the other. Reboot to safe mode, let them rip one after the other.

Plug net connection in, cancel all NAV07 subscriptions, toss a coin. Heads go download AVG, tails go download nod32. Either are cheaper, less resource hungry and I hate to tell you this less susceptible to being nuked by viruses (NAV is known to get itself turned off by some of the more cunning ones and uses IE for the control panel thus suffers from any current flaws in that program).

UPDATE.
My computer man has now installed Norton Anti Virus 2007.
I have run a full system scan, which has given my PC a 100% healthy bill of health.
However, the problem which I mentioned, is still there.
Several of my regular favourites sites have been hit by spyware and open up in an alien site. Usually porn!
I am afraid that if I run one of the free downloads mentioned by a previous replier, I could conflict with my NAV 2007.
Any ideas?

Spybot, adaware and spyware blaster should run fine with Norton - though you may need to turn the teatimer (registry protection) in spybot off
