Laptop has slowed right down - please help
Discussion
Hi Guys,
Ever since trying out a trial of the new version of bullguard and deleted it, my laptop has slowed right down. Used the older version without any problems but understand others were experiencing the same problem, hence deleting it and installing the free trial of avg.
Since then my laptop has slowed right down.
Is anyone able to advise as to how to check to make sure that Bullguard is completely deleted and is there any software that I can download which will completely clean my laptop so as to increase the speed again?
Any help will be greafully appreciated.
Thanks,
BF

Pick up process explorer from sysinternals and also autoruns. After booting up normally go through everything in process explorer and un-tick anything you don't need (process explorer will allow you to right click and "google" anything you don't recognise). Run autoruns and untick anything that you don't want starting up automatically (and thus use up memory unnecessarily) . Download crap cleaner (google ccleaner) run and let it remove all the unnecessary bits.
Make sure your other protections are up to date and have scanned (spybot search and destroy, adaware, spywareblaster and the AVG spyware). Run defrag from the properties tab on your hard drives - may be worth doing a scandisk as well (though this will require a reboot). Reboot and if everything starts up properly you should hopefully see a marked improvement.
