Maybe one for Jamie, but all ideas welcome.

I have a client who is currently having a new website designed, but they have a horrible system where any web traffic to their domain is forwarded to some free web space.

I'm thinking of suggesting a Register1 VDS, but they will also be shortly having a new SBS2003 server installed and so will be using Exchange.

Grabbing the mail from a VDS is no problem, but they are also wanting to use Outlook Web Access via an address along the lines of "webmail.theirdomain.co.uk", but am not sure whether this is possible with the VDS. I can't log into mine to check from here.

Their site is only going to be small and they have a limited budget so a dedicated box is going to be overkill.

Any ideas how to implement this along with a VDS?

TIA

Paul

Just create a DNS record for webmail or whatever pointing to their exchange server (will need port forwarding enabling on their router to forward port 443 traffic to their server). Install certificate services to ssl the owa site without having to fork out for a proper verisign cert. Nothing to do with vds etc, just a DNS thing.

Ya, Whilst the VDS comes with it's own webmail, you can simply raise a Support ticket and request we add a DNS A record for your preferred subdomain.domain.com --> IP.IP.IP.IP

Hmmm...

Question: Do advertisers on PH get e-mail triggers directing them to posts when certain keywords are mentioned? It's always uncanny (and slightly unnverving) how they always seem to appear so quickly!

Nahh, they employ hordes of monkies, poles and pikeys to scan ever post in every PH forum and then alert them by flinging poo, building something, selling them a Dag, that a post about them has appeared.

Do you like Daaags?

In honesty, Nope, no email triggers... just a keen eye and a band of helpful chaps who occasionally drop me the odd mail

Yeah... I like dogs rolleyes

Never been called a monkey, a pikey or a pole before... then again I don't recall flinging poo, building anything or selling anyone a mutt of any description either...
