Is there any way to stop the detailed scan from running EVERY single night at 12am? I can see it in the scheduler but it won't let me do anything with it as I haven't paid for it. And to be honest I don't want to.

AVG is the best thing for me, but since the new version this detailed scan just pisses me off every night as it takes a lot of my CPU power. I know I can close it but I would like a more permanent solution bar deleting it.

Sure is.

Open up Control Centre (right click system tray icon and select Launch Control Centre). Select Extended Mode from View menu. Click on the Scheduler component. Click the Scheduled Tasks button, then click on the "Test plan in basic mode" task. Click on Edit Schedule button, and uncheck the Periodically start scheduled antivirus test check box. Job done.

Best to create a new job to do a full test weekly or whatever you are comfortable with.

Oops - thats the paid for version though. Not sure about the freebie.

Control Center > Sheduler > Sheduled Tasks > Select "Test plan" > Edit Shedule and untick the box at the very top. Click Ok and it'll disable it.

Can't delete it but being disabled it won't run.

Thanks for that chaps. I disabled that basic test thing. There was another one with no description, that was scheduled to run at the times that I mentioned, I couldn't edit it as I needed professional AVG, but I could delete it.

So hopefully bingo! thumbup
