Need to get a new AGP graphics card, currently have an Nvidia FX5200 128mb which is slowly breaking down.
So want a 256Mb one, not sure on whether to get an ATI or an Nvidia modle. Don't want to go silly money on one, but just want some advice on what the PH massive think is the best one or the best value for money.

Cheers

The best AGP graphics cards are probably the ATi X800/ X850 based cards , there are faster nVidia 7800/ 7900 based cards also but these tend to be expensive. To be honest the best option would be to move to a PCI-Express platform where the graphcis cards appear to be better value.

Nvidia Geforce cards are better if you working in the 3d/
If your a gamer then ATI cards are better. Having said that, current crop of
graphic cards offer very good value.

The reason that PCI Express cards offer better value is that they are currently the best sellers so the unit price is lower. Fewer people are purchasing AGP cards.

My friend has a computer shop in SW London and he might have some good AGP cards.
IF you email me via my profile I'll have a word with him and see what he has in stock.

I've just upgraded my system to a new motherboard which is PCI express. I bought an AGP Nvidia 7800GS about 6 months ago which now doesn't have a home which I'm willing to part with if you're interested?
