OK, so my PC has finally owned up to it's NAV 2002 being no longer upgradable, and the web site offers a nice shiney 2007 version.

What are my options to ditch this. I am thinking of rebuilding the PC onto a new drive, so what would I need to have the same coverage as I had with Norton Internet Security.

I have the nice shiney XP firewall, the one in my router. I could get AVG (as used on the "family" PC) and them perhaps something like Mail Washer. Any other recommendations?

OK, so maybe I am answering my own questions, but this seems a pretty good reason not to renew with Norton.

Yep answered your own question

AVG, nod32, Avast! will all be superior products to NAV.

XP-SP2's firewall when combined with a Router is sufficient for most needs.

Avoid Norton, especially the NIS package. It's hungry, bulky and flakey. Loads of free anti-virus and firewalls out there. I use Avast and ZoneAlarm. Would be interested in trying AVG at some time, but for now, the aforementioned work well, are stable, and leave your PC running smoothly.
