Hi Folkswavey

I'm putting together a Database using MS Access. Problem is that my machine runs Access2000, while other users are running Access97.

No doubt this brings up some compatibility issues. Any ideas how best I could deal with these?

TIA

/Upgrade everyone to 2000/xp/2003

/Downgrade yourself to 97

/Do the database in something else, openoffice has a database now. Or you could use SQL with a web front end?

/Can't exactly remember but 2000 may have some options regarding 97 compatability?

Would be lovely, but my employer has short arms and deep pockets when it comes to IT.

As above, if there's any way to do this without cost, then that would be great.

Thanks - how would one go about this in the most cost-effective way possible?

Are you just using Access as a database, or are you creating an application using Forms, Reports, VBA, etc.? In theory, it shouldn't matter...

In Access 2000: Tools > Database Utilities > Convert Database > To Prior Access Database Version

Save it with a new filename. Open it in Access 97. Click OK to the info dialog about converting code to current version of VB (even if there is no VB). You now have an A97 version.

Not the ideal solution, but will do what you need
