Just bought a video ipod and have a few questions:

1. Does the video part of it take .avi files? If not, what format should they be in, and what do I need to convert them?
2. I have about 4000 albums in MP3 format, but only seem able to 'import' these to iTunes on a track by track basis. Can I not copy multiple albums to iTunes in one go?
3. Does the 'sync' facility only look to copy new tracks that have added to iTunes after any previous sync, or does it attempt to copy everything agian.

I don't think iTunes is a great interface on first impressions. Is there anything else that people use instead?

You just go to the advanced options and tell iTunes where to find your music folder. Alternatively, you drag and drop the folder into iTunes.

1. I use VisualHub (Shareware) but the same company also does iSquint which is free. (www.isquint.org/). iPod files are either MPEG4 or H264.

2. Highlight all the tracks (or directories) and drag them to Music (just under Library) in iTunes.

3. Sync depends on your settings, playlists etc. You could (for example) tell it to only sync everything you haven't heard in 6 months, you rate with 3 stars or above that is in a particular category. Very powerful.

These are all Mac-based. You don't say what platform you are using. No idea on the PC.

Give iTunes more of a try - it really is excellent.
