Dynamic Host Control Protocol.

Your router will have a DHCP server on it, although it might be upset about ICS appearing which also has a DHCP server built in to it.

As above, what's the error?

That's a public IP address confused

Start >Run >cmd

From the command prompt

Ipconfig /release

Then reboot.

It's also malformed ... 172.367.2.7 ??? I'm hoping that's 172.36.72.7

Do you have a feeling there's potentially multiple useable IP's supplied by the ISP and a badly configured DCHP server on the router?

Didn't notice the typo

Could be a 172.16...

Ipconfig /release would still be my first step as it's requesting a DHCP addy the server won't dish out.

If it's an internal (private) address, there's no problem with posting it chap..

That's fine... Sounds like your DHCP server has access control set up and your MAC address isn't in the allow list. Well, that's one of many potential reasons for the problem.

Why not just assign your IP statically if you can't find the reason why it's happening.

How about i type services.msc into run and then go to windows media connect, it is currently set onto this network 'NT AUTHORITYNetworkService'. How about i set it so that it runs on 'local system account'

Noooooooooo

It's an IP thang...

On the good machine

Start >Run >cmd

Ipconfig /all

Note all the numbers etc

Then right click your LAN connection > Properties >Internet Protocol TCP/IP and enter the same info there EXCEPT make the IP address one digit higher.

Then you should be able to ping etc. to test it.

How many PCs or other devices (i.e. xbox, wireless access point, network printer, etc.) have you got on the network?

Also can you get onto the administrative webpage for your router?

It sounds as though your PC is being refused a DHCP lease which would indicate that you may have some duplicate IP addresses on the network and/or possibly an insufficiently large pool of DHCP addresses on the router.

Rather than give your PC a static IP address it would be better to sort the problem and continue using DHCP, this could be as simple as clearing the DHCP lease database (power off the router) and/or extending the pool of client addresses.

Yes, LAC = LAN.

Right click. Properties. If Windows is behaving then your looking at a Windows full of oddities.... that I can't remember as I'm using a Mac ATM
But once that's up go back up the thread and follow the others advice.
