Arrgggghhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bloody Windows messed up a huge file transfer again - trying to move a huge wodge of files from one machine to another via the network. First it won't move them for some reason even though all the permissions are set correctly. Then half way through copying one file throws up a CRC error and of course the whole copy is aborted mad My Archimedes would let me skip a file during copying if there was a problem 15 years ago in RISC OS 2 ranting So of course now I have no way of just copying the files that it hadn't finished doing...

Anyway, any decent freeware copy utils that will do what Windows should??

To the command line, Robin!
Have a play with xcopy /? to see if that makes it easier. And the Cpu doesnt need to animate stupid folder graphics as well...

Another option; dowmload a small Microsoft utility called SyncToy from the following URL:

www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/prophoto/synctoy.mspx

It's very straightforward to use (I've managed to synch i.e. copy, 36GB of music from my desktop to my laptop without any problems). The beuaty of this tool is that when you wish to resynchronize in 6 months time it will scan both systems across your network and just transfer the files that have been added or changed - and this behaviour is user configurable.

Found this:

www.download.com/Copy-Handler/3000-2248_4-10597781.html?tag=lst-0-9

Running at the mo, just copying files, will double check the files / file sizes are OK before I delete the originals but it looks OK so far...
