How do I make a folder shareable via WiFi?
Discussion
I've got my pc connected to the modem via Cable and my laptop via WiFi. All works ok.
I want to make a folder on my pc 'shareable' so that I can access it via my laptop.
I did create one a while ago but deleted it, and now can't remember what to do
I know its simple but my brains gone dead.
Can anyone post a step by step guide please

Assuming that you're referring to Windows XP. Navigate to the folder you want via Windows Explorer (Right-click 'My Computer' then select 'Explore'). Right-click on the folder you wish to share and select ' Sharing and Security,' In the area titled 'Network sharing and security' select 'Share this folder on the network.' The Share name will, by deafult, be the name of the folder. Select 'Allow network users to change my files.' You must do this in order to fullt utilize the shared folder from your laptop.

I think i've got it sorted, well I can see the folder now thanks
But to enable me to activate the 'share on a network' option I had to put the folder into the shared documents folder on the pc. Is this right?
And then to see the folder via my laptop I go through 'my network places' on the laptop. Again is this the right way? I assume I can then create a shortcut to the folder later??

Thats one of the ways to do it. Yes you can create a shortcut to it. Rather than drag the folder to the shared area right click on it and select properties and then sharing. You might also want to visit www.grc.com to make sure you're not sharing too much information.

Thanks for that. I'll check the site out later.
If I go through the properties and sharing route it doesn't allow me to tick the share on a network option, don't know why
?? The only way I could do it was to drag it into the shared documents folder. mad mark said:

The shared documents thing should be good enough for copying stuff between XP machines.
