Hi there, a bit of advice required please.

I recently bought a Nokia 8800 Sirocco on Orange and due to its reasonable value wish to insure it. I checked out reviews of insurance companies on reviewcenter.com where Orange Care insurance is very poorly rated.

The best rated insurance was a company called CUSC but they refused to insure my particular phone. Any other companies that showed a good rating had not actually been rated by people that had made a claim so their reviews were of liitle use.

I was just wondering what fellow PHers reckoned to Orange Care - any experiences good/bad when claiming etc. Also, can anybody recommend an alternative company that they've had good experiences with.

Many thanks,

WI.

Did you buy it from an Orange store or P4U/CPW?
If the latter, there's them to try. Even if you didn't you could check out CPW anyway.
Otherwise, household policy insurer?

I always used to rate Orange care very highly (I used to run a moibile phone shop a few years ago - always stunning customer service) - I have little recent experience of them though.

As an aside, does your household insurance not cover you (list the item separately on the policy) - also I get free phone insurance from NatWest as an Advantage customer - have a look at your bank...

Thanks for the replies. I don't currently have household insurance as I move around a lot for work so rent and take nothing of any value with me, good idea though.

I'll give the bank avenue a try.

With your circumstances, I would advise you to go with Orange care.

IIRC - it's next day replacement / same day if you go to an Orange shop. Well worth it if you move around, and have your phone nicked / damaged whilst away on business

From what I've seen Orange care seems pretty good. We insured my daughter's phone independantly only to find out that there was a big excess and when we took the policy out we werent told that they would only cover up to £150, not much good on a £250 phone. They also wanted reports on any fault or damage on the phone before they would pay.
I ditched that and switched to Orange care pretty quickly as they will replace the phone the next day by courier without much hassle.

Who do you bank with??

Lloyds, Natwest are among a few to offer free mobile insurance as part of their accounts.

Free is great

Despite Orange being less than useless there insurance was always good, I'd get through 3 or 4 phones a year and never had trouble!
Shame there so bloody expensive though, same amount of use (if not more) on T-Mobile (that I'm on now) and it's less than half price £55/month, I was around £120 on Orange!
