I have an LG external DVD recorder, and need some more RW discs for it.

I know that Sony discs work well with it, can someone recommend an online place thats pretty good and cheap for say, 10 DVD+RW discs?

They're mainly for backup purposes, although the odd film may be watched on them - so it would be good if they were discs that are happy to be played on an ancient DVD player (like my Pioneer DVD-515)

This old information so I apologise, however Ridisk G04 dye was recommended to me as the best for compatibility, I believe G06 is the more modern equivalent.

Not RW but R so...

Can I just ask a stupid question please?

My new laptop says on it.... DVD-Dual (support DVD+R Double Layer/DVD+/-RW) Obviously in that last bit the plus was on top of the minus.

I know it will record/burn/whatever DVDs but what type do I use? the first bit implies + and the last bit sounds like either, and while we are on about it, what is the difference?

Many thanks

svp.co.uk are pretty good, and offer cheap postage weekends from time to time

Aldi usually sell 5 for £3.99 or 10 for £4.99 if you want some from a shop there and then

I've been using svp for years. I've only ever had one problem with a set of duff discs, which they replaced instantly. Recommended.

another vote for SVP.
Went to ukdvd and order said disc as svp didnt have them it stock. ukdvd supplied me with another inferrior type from same manufacture. Ended up in a 3 week debate with them that they had sold me something I did not order. Sale of Goods Act etc.
wont move. Said I would have to pay for the postage back and they would refund (less postage). Blo****s I said to that. And wrote/emailed/phoned them daily. Got nowhere.

In the end gave up and used them. Total crap. The Ritek from SVP I have never had a failure out of 100 used. These from ukdvd 32 failures from 66 discs. And I found that although they are X8 they only work burning at x2.

I would never ever deal with ukdvd again.

Unlike svp you cant leave feedback on the ukdvd site otherwise I would have.

As far as DVD-rw goes I have used Verbatim 6X (again from svp) and no problems

Hmm, a question, does your old DVD player play RW's ? I know mine doesnt. But it does happily play DVD-R's. I have an internal LG drive and have for some time now been happily using infiniti whites from ebuyer, £7.76 inc vat for a tub of 50 blanks www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/110433

they also do infiniti +R's but not RW's

For -RW I have been using the Sony DVD's which work fine in the LG drive, ebuyer also do them www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/57267 £6.13 inc VAT for 5, but they only seem to have the -RW not +RW

www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers is filled with user feedback on what DVD players can play what type of dvds. I have an old Sony NS300 (4-5 yrs), and it can play dvd-/+r and -/+RW. CDRW but not CDR, nor any mp3.
