Just in the process of ordering a new TV off Derestrictor.

It's a Toshiba 32WLT66 and i'm looking to connect it to our NTL box and DVD Player.

I think the only connection on the NTL Box is scart and the DVD Surround Sound has both a scart connection and an S-Video.

It's currently set up as follows:

TV (AV1) ----> NTL
TV (AV2) ----> DVD
NTL Box ----> DVD (RCA Leads) So that sound from NTL can be played via the surround sound.

The scart leads are ones from my Student days (Read that as the cheapest I can find so probably sub £5 each).

I don't want to spend a fortune but I think they could fast become a very weak link in the system so can any one recommend some cables for me?

Also is SCART the best connection to use of should I use the S-Video from the DVD Player? (Saying that I don't think the TV has an S-Video connection so please ignore me).

Many Thanks,

Confused of Aylesbury

It'll be on the specs of the kit.

I've been having a hunt around online for a user manual as I don't think I have mine any more (well I probably do but its filed safely away somewhere!)

No luck finding it online unfortunately.

Is there a difference between a Composite scart cable and a RGB Scart cable then?

No difference in the cable but RGB SCART is higher quality than S-Video and S-Video is higher quality than Composite...

The fact that the NTL box has seperate audio outputs makes me think it's one of the earier Pace ones rather than the newer Samsung. If that's the case you can set the output to composite or RGB via the remote IIRC.

I'm fairly sure the Pace ones (fold out flap on the left side at the front) can be switched between RGB and Composite via the set up menu on the remote control.

Thats the one, i'll have a look when I get home on the menu.

I've got my fingers crossed that Der can get the TV i've ordered from him (over the phone) as it seems to have disappeared from his site this afternoon).

So if I work on the premise that I need one RGB and one Composite scart where should I be looking?

I have that TV and an NTL pace box. The pace box needs to be switched to RGB in the settings menu, then connect to the scart 1 on the tv. the tv will rocognise the rgb signal and give the best quality signal. Connect the DVD to scart 2.
