Exactly what is the use of appleTV? Is it just a hardrive that stores suff off your mac or can it record like a dvd hd? Seems a bit daft if youre restricted to whats on itunes. Anyone know more about it?
In essence is streams content from your mac, over Airport/WiFi. It can do music, video files and photos contained in your iTunes library. However, while the iTunes Movie/TV store has been launched in the states theres nothing yet on our front, which makes AppleTV pretty far from being a must have gadget yet.
Another thing is that saadly while it does have a hard drive, you can't record onto it. That would be a killer feature for me.

Just saw the BBC's coverage of the event.
A lot of info about the iPhone but strangely nothing at all about Apple TV.
How strange.

To be honest, its impact in this country is somewhat mooted due to the lack of any true content to play on it. I love the idea, and the price is pretty damn good, just wish it could record programmes from the tv, that would be fantastic.
Think you might have to wait for the mark II version for that.
Just about half way through the the keynote intro to the phone. Never really been that keen on mobile phones and never had one that I wanted to own and and have always used them begrudgingly. Currently using a Motorola, can't see the keyboard in certain light, don't know what more than half the stupid little icons are, navigating my directory is painful and the interface is ugly (must have been designed by Microsoft ;-).
When I heard there might be a phone announced at expo, I thought, 'at last, the possibility of a phone which might be a joy to use'. Can't say I'm disappointed.... Wow!
It's almost embarrassing to watch how far ahead they are over all the other phone companies (not to mention computer companies), in terms of UI and elegant ease of use. I'm sure the the other companies are already working on their rip off versions (which, just like all the other mp3/iPod rip off players, will most probably miss the point/mark), although he did say they would protect their patents vigourously.
Hope it gets to the UK soon
