Sorry - I can't make the title make perfect sense in the number of characters it gives.

Whilst of course I know that laptops work when traveling to different countries, I was wondering if there was anything that would prohibit me buying a MacBook when in the US next week, and bringing it back over here. i.e. would I have any product registration or software problems, or power supply issues?

Or, is it identical to the UK one in every way other than the price and number of pins on the plug?

Keyboard, and power lead, that's about it.

Keyboard will be different.
Powerbrick my not be multi-voltage and you will therefore require a UK spec (check ebay).

Other than that... a laptop is a laptop is a laptop. Universal parts and innards. Peripherals will work the same (the U in USB is for Universal).

I'd also ship the box and manuals home separately.

No problems with serial numbers / country of registration / warranty, anything like that?

Nope, the Apple service system shows country of purchase, and you have to replace like with like. If you've bought a Mac from someone like Macwarehouse the purchase country ranges from Belgium to San Marino!

So, if the keyboard broke it'd be replaced by a US one.

The only difference is Iceland, IIRC, has a two year warranty by law, so we were unable to help.

Just buy a power lead from Maplin or the like and you're away.

Give Dixons tax free ( www.dixonstaxfree.co.uk ) a call at the airport you are leaving from to see if they have the model you are after. It should work out almost as cheap without the keyboard/customs worries.
