Sorry, metadata; concerning our website and the words attached to meta names etc.

Ahh, I see.

Yes, in short.

Pick a website, select View Source from the menu and it'll be at the top.

Ahh that stuff. Yes it's available to anyone who Views Source on a page. It's used by search engines to help categorise and describe your website, so obfuscating it is kinda self defeating. If you don't want it, just don't type it

(I switched the carets for square brackets, else PH screws it up)

Problem is, the same meta data's on every page of the site. This'll get marked as duplication in Google and de-rank the pages. Especially because the page title itself is the same across all of them. Shame, as otherwise the content on the site is actually quite good for Search Engine Optimization.

Funnily enough, we offer an SEO service... we even have a tool I've been working on that'll produce a report on the most common mistakes on a site, and meta tags are especially catered for in it. Happy to run it over the site to give you the report on what would be best addressed for free. Then you can have whoever you want to improve it...

This metadata has been analysed by an intellectual property law firm acting on behalf of a rival. We have some 'form' with their clients who, apart from seemingly conquering the world of automotive glazing, must be a bit bored and have been looking at our website to see if there's anything to get their teeth into.

Far chem.

No need to dig in the code, you can have that easier with #RMB #View Page Info at least in Firefox

If it's not too cheeky would you be kind enough to run it over my site? I'm still SEO optimising at the mo by hand and Google hasn't latched onto me properly as yet.

Yes Bodo, I spotted the typo when I first saw the page... Have communicated it to our hosts who will hopefully sort that out.

Thanks just the same.
