DVD Decrypter not working too well

Using DVD dycrypter to 'back up' some DVDs but getting lots of read errors, is this because of the copy right? if so any other way around it?

AFAIK DVD Decrypter is no longer updated as the author was not prepared to take on Hollywood's lawyers when they told him to stop.

Any copy protection designed after that date cannot be overwritten by DVDD

I downloaded RipItForMe and that seems work now.
