I am trying to access a website ( a government one ) from home but the page never loads. I have 3 PCs running through a BT ADSL router. The desk PC is connect by LAN, and there are 2 PCs connected wirelessly. I am using IE6, IE7 and Firefox. I have never succeeded in getting through to part of this website on any of these machines, despite lowering security levels, block up poppers etc. I know for a fact that this website is OK as I can get to it from the PCs at work.

Another thing - since getting my machines running on broadband through this router, I have never been able to connect to the Microsoft Games Server - that which is used to play Internet Checkers etc through MS Windows. Probably the same problem - but there are the only 2 websites that I have not (knowingly) been able to connect to in 3 years!

Any ideas for what the problem is? Is more likely to be a setting somewhere in the set up of the router itself? Very puzzled so would be grateful for assistance.

Maybe call/email a friend to see if he can access the website.

For security reasons it could be that the site or part of the site is only available when your at work.

Thanks - but the point is that I "should" be able to access this site anywhere - it is a public website. I can get it at work, my neighbour can see it - and I should also have access to it. It is to do with checking planning consents, so it is something that I want to be able to get to anytime I want. It just puzzles me that my machines always get a time out message trying to get to the pages in question - and this happens to no one else.

sounds like router may have built in firewall screwing up the works - try temporarily disabling or lowering protection level....
