Hello All

I've done some googling but can't come up with an answer.

I'm about to move to cable broadband, but have a wireless adsl router. Is there anything on the market to allow me to convert the current adsl feed, to a cable feed.

I've not long since shelled out on my shiny new 3com router and cards, and don't really relish the thought of having to buy a new one.

Regards

well depending on your router u may be able to change it into switch mode and then all u do is link your cable modem up to it and walla as long as it supports DHCP

Bugger.

It's a 3com office connect firewall router.

Just had a good rummage through every menu on it, and can't see any trace of it being a switch. The back of the device has an adsl input, and 4 x LAN out's.

Nope - sell it on ebay and buy a Netgear one.

Oddly enough, I was about to ask almost this exact same question..

I have a Netgear ADSL wireless modem/router combo box. But I just had cable installed last friday, and was wondering if I could just take an ethernet cable from the cable modem and hook it into my netgear box and get wireless that way? (Not at the same time as having the adsl connection, obviously)

Problem is, I am absolutely crap with anything that involves networking, and I honestly don't know if my Netgear box (DG834SomethingOrOther) can be a 'switch' or not? (It has 4 ethernet sockets on the back as well as the wireless itself)

In the mean time however, I do actually have 2 broadband internet connections! As the ADSL one hasn't expired yet. Its been a surprisingly handy little luxury that spin

P,
