Disconnected by ISP when using Bittorent network
Discussion
Is it me, or does anyone else have this?
I'm with Pipex Homecall, and whenever I connect any Bittorent client 30 seconds later teh Modem part of the Router disconnects, then won't reconnect without a hard reset, it does this for Azureus or Bitcomet, so now it's driving me mad....and no I'm not downloading Movies or MP3's before I get slated for a bittorent question.
Anyone please.

Done that with Azureus, and it worked for a while, now I get complete disconnects, so ......I know Pipex do this in peak times, but now it's pretty much all the time for me. downloads are damn quick most of the time, my little un recently downloaded a new game demo and it came in at 295k/sec, which is good.......downloads through bitcomet this morning before 8:00 were 120k/sec, not shabby, ........but after 8:00, disconnects again...and now this minute, nothing, so no disconnects, but no bittorrent network either.

I had a broadband modem/router which would stay connected under light load but fold as soon as the load went up. Maybe your router is causing the problem? The fact it needs a hard reset of the router afterwards would tend to suggest it. If so it would be worth checking the manufacturers support forums for workarounds or firmware upgrades.
the main mistake people make with biottorent clients is that they dont put a cap on your upstream! look at how fast u upload and then take between 5-10kbps off that and set that as your cap im with NTL 4MB and i get about 40KBps upstream to i cap mine at 35KBps.
If i leave it without a cap i go from 500KBps to about 30KBps as without avalible upstream it cant comunicate to download.

Well, I seem to have gotten on top of it, thus far, so thanks for the pointers chaps.
It turns out I'd inadvertently set too many ports for the router to handle in Azureus. well, quite a few too many, about 20k, if that's possible, and it was causing the router to topple over. I still have the port clamping issue with Pipex, but that's another story, I know Azureus can attempt to circumvent this, though using the wiki hasn't given me a lot of success...
Cheers me dears, another mini crisis averted.

I was with Pipex too and had that irritating port throttling thing which was bloody annoying, as the service claimed to be uncapped. I spent many an hour trying to fix what I thought was my buggered network, only to find I hadnt done anything wrong at all (thanks for letting me know, Pipex). Plus I dont download much anyway. So on the rare occasion I do download anything, i'd like it to go as fast as it can. Particularly as at the time, it was only a half mb connection anyway. So its not like I was going to bog down the network for the whole of North London or anything.
Anyway, I migrated to Nildram who were pretty good. But 2 days later I realised they are in a partnership of some sort with Pipex anyway. So if they don't have the same policies now, then I expect they soon will.
Anyway, back on topic.. I have also experienced disconnection's. But this started when I had one of those god awful USB modems. Many of them are apparently notorious for not being able to handle streamed data very well, so they keel over.
I have also experienced my connection dying while downloading when I had (for a while) a 2mb adsl connection. Apparently this was beyond the capability of my phone line due to the distance from the exchange. So the connection became unstable, but it would really only show up when I was trying to download a lot. As soon as the connection was re-graded to a measly half mb, it very rarely ever happened again.
However, half an mb just wasn't cutting it.. So like Shocker-z, I now have NTL 4mb cable. Much better!
