Is there any way of disabling the updates?

It's only a modem, what on earth is within it that requires it to update at random every other day for about 10-15 minutes at a time? it's damned annoying.

I am getting mightily pee'd off at losing my connection in the middle of something important.

Haven't a clue, only orange know (!!!??) - if you're going to persist with it though best get the updates before it does it automatically and ruins whatever you're up to - 192.168.1.1 gets you in.....
