Starting up xp - now and again the monitor signal seems to get dropped (and doesn't return). This happens shortly after the windows flag and the progress bar appears, the monitor displaying 'no signal'. Have tried switching to a different screen, but same problem. This used to happen sporadically, and the fix seemed to be to hit something like f8 or f10 when a prompt came up to allow me to 'switch to last best configuration' or something similar. However I no longer seem to have this option - and have tried hammering the f-keys as it loads.

Anyone have any idea what's up / how to fix? Thanks

You are looking for the boot menu by the sounds of it. Windows says hit f8 as it loads up to get to boot menu! However it doesnt work for eveymachine (surprise, surprise). Aleternatively some machine get to the boot menu by holding down the 'Ctrl' key during boot up. Have a go and see what happens.

thanks - will try the ctrl option as the f8 seems to have disappeared.
