Help needed (be gentle)

I've been having problems with my internet. When i check my connection its allegedly running at 7.1mbps however when I check on one of them speed test sites its running at between 0.3 and 2.2mbps.
I know users, distance from exchange, wiring etc make a difference but surely not this much.
I've spent 5 days trying to get orange to sort it but I think the technical dept know as little as me and appear to be just reading off an idiot board.
Any help would be appreciated

From what I have heard there is a problem with that "colour." Is it possilble that all the advertising has caused them to oversubscribe?

Could be. They boil my p***. Just got off the phone again. Can I wait another 2 days then ring back.
