Media player help

[alltorque]

I'm trying to improve my french and also learn some italian for a possible move with work.

Is there a media player that anyone knows of which can take say a .wav or a .mp3 file and let you alter the playback speed without changing the pitch? I'd like to take say french news reports and slow them down to a point at which I can begin to even hope to know what the hell they're talking about.

Any advice appreciated.
