Just moved to a new place and the signal on my virgin mobile is terrible. Get 3 bars if I'm lucky in the right place in one room, quite often lose signal. Most rooms total black hole.

Thing is this isn't the middle of nowhere, it's North London (Hampstead) and a couple of hundread feet from a building containing loads of masts.

Irritating thing is I have only recently signed a 12 month contract with them (though past cooling off period). Frustratingly, Vodafone seems to work fine throughout the building (although wouldn't go back to the bastards)

Anything I can do? Line the roof with tinfoil wobble

I don't suppose there's any way of getting out of the contract due to lack of service.

Amazing to think there is a coverage blackspot in Zone 2 but when I was in Dover earlier this month my phone started roaming on a French network!

I think you're buggered mate. No way of getting out of contract as far as I know, and not a lot you can do about the signal either.

The cynic in my would suggest that the french operators haven't downtilted their antennas correctly, and are enjoying those lovely, lovely roaming charges...

I'd be interested in the specs, because I do this for a living and am unaware of anything you can do to boost signal that's legal.

Give it 6-12 months and we'll have developed some kit that may well help in this situation.

If you can't get a signal, then they aren't providing the service you are paying for - ring them (landline? hehe)

Divert the calls to a landline when you're home?
