Had my regular spam from Sky regarding their broadband service offering 3 services.

Base - Pay no monthly fee, Up to 2Mb download speed, free monthly subscription - all you pay is a one-off £40 activation fee 2GB usage allowance every month. (rubbish for me)

Mid - Up to 8Mb for £5 a month Up to 8Mb download speed, 40Gb monthly usage allowance, £20 activation fee (exactly the same package as I have with BT right now) but approx £10 a month cheaper)

Max - Unlimited* usage Up to 16Mb download speed Just £10 a month Unlimited* usage allowance FREE activation (sounds very good)

Although where I am I cannot get 16mb download speeds or 8mb download speeds or even 2mb (I'm on the end of a 1mb line) I wonder if it's time to move. I have had no problems and I repeat no problems with the service from BT but this additional benefit below just adds to the temptation.

More good news - unlimited UK landline** calls for £5 a month
You can save with Sky Talk too. Whether you have Sky Broadband or not, you can switch to Sky Talk and get unlimited calls to UK landlines, at any time of the day or night, for just £5 a month. Mobile and international calls are cheaper than BT too. Just pay BT for your line rental and Sky for your Sky Talk charges.

If you arent in an LLU exchange I think BT will continue doing the provision so the service shouldnt change.

I got a thing through the door saying that the unlimited was actually a 40Gb limit.

I was interested to find this out too - the previous thread didn't make it sound very promising - see here
