hp compaq nx6110 lost all sound (volume)

i seem to have lost all sound on my laptop not sure if something has been deleted can anyone suggest what i need to do to recover sound

Check to see if your speakers are set correctly in the sound settings also that the volume is not muted. Is sndvol32 still on the laptop, it lives in c:windowssystem32 normally

i have checked in control panel at audio devices and it is telling me there is no audio device what does this mean has there been something deleted

checked system 32 and sndvol32 is there
