As I understand it, from reading reviews and what people have said, and no personal experience, it is basically XP with bits stolen from Mac to apparently make it easier to use.

I wouldn't recommend getting any Microsoft OS that is so new, it will be full of bugs and will likely have loads of hardware support issues.

Basically

Computers have moved on a bit since 2003 when XP came out so Microsoft have made a new version of Windows to support current boxes.

However if your PC is a few years old and is working OK then upgrading is pointless as it'll run slow.

But if you go n buy a new PC then it'll probably come with Vista installed.

If you are going to buy a new PC and don't play games on it then buy a Mac.

Spot on. Why buy the copy, when the original, and best, is available in such a sexy, sleek form.

Despite all of the cosmetic improvements, all vista is really for is making the PC THE gaming platform of the future..

Check out videos of Crysis on gametrailers.com

And "media platform".

Nothing you can't do with XLobby or similar if you're a geek but they're going for the "friendly" HTPC angle

Not really the original. A good GUI with a ripped off copy of FreeBSD underneath.

You will need it in the near future if you like to play the latest PC games. DirectX 10 will only be available for Vista.

As others say, avoid it until the bug fixes are available. Apparently someone has hacked it already! rolleyes

Seriously it is a rip off of Mac O/S X. There is nothing new in there to Mac users. But if you have a bright shiny new PC with all the latest stuff on it then putting Vista on will move you forwards. But if your PC is a year or two old forget it.
