Hello, can anyone help me with this?

BG junior got a laptop for Christmas, connected up to our Orange Livebox right out of the box, it was a doddle. But yesterday it dropped its wi-fi connection somehow.

The connection is still there with a strong signal, but under status reads 'authenticating' or 'aquiring network address' and its just stuck at that. Put the WEP code in a few times, no change. Clicked on a the 'repair wireless netowrk connection' tag, it sticks at 'renewing your IP address'.

I'm out of my depth with this stuff.

Thanks for any help/tips.

have you rebooted the ornage(orange) box? Is this up and running? I'm assuming its trying to get an IP address from the oranage box, and failing, possibly due the line being down?

Try the "pairing" button on the side of the Livebox (A or B, can't remember which).

I had similar issues with our Livebox, which has now gone back to Orange and been replaced by a linksys modem/wireless thingy together with an Orange contract phone for £30 a month with free broadband. Works a treat.

Now fixed, an automatic update when BG junior was online Sunday am screwed the network card driver. After much messing about, half an hour to the Indian call centre of my ISP, then two hours to the Indian call centre of the laptop manufacturer, tried all sorts, reloaded drivers etc, finally restored the system to Saturday pre-update, all sorted.

Thanks for the suggestions posted anyway.
