The other day I happened to require a DVI - HDMI cable so thinking the easiest thing to do was to saunter down to my local PCworld store and pick one up. A tenner I thought would be a reasonable price! How wrong I was. First they tried to tell me that such a device didnt exist so I looked myself only to find that I could buy a DVI - DVI cable for £29.99 and an adapter DVI - HDMI for £19.99, er so thats nearly £50! I questioned the PCworld staff why the high price for a cable and was informed that its because its got gold connectors and thus gives a better signal! Really. I thought (perhaps wrongly) that as DVI & HDMI were both digital signals that you either got a signal or you didnt? Unlike analogue where it does matter. So anyway I rejected his kind offer of pulling my pants down in public and instead purchased an ebuyer DVI - HDMI cable for the grand price of £6.37 including delivery. The moral of the story is never trust someone who looks like he never sees daylight and lives on a diet of coke and crisps.

Margin

The facts of the matter is that theres all in tellies but shitloads in cables, especially at high street prices.

The quality of digital cables does vary but what hes saying is cobblers, unless you happen to have a living room with 30 marine fishtanks in it.
