Hi,

On some sites (most new pages I look at but not sites like PH and other stuff I look at a lot) the page loads up about 80% so you can see most of it, but then it takles between 1 and 5 minutes (!!) to finish loading it up.

You can't do much until the page is fully loaded. And its getting rather annoying now!

Today I have run spybot, adaware (lavasoft) a full scan of AVG in safe mode and still it persists being slow on some sites.

I have just installed Hijack this, but have no idea how to use it and am afraid to delete any of the 144 files it detects.

Whats happenning?

Please help me.....................

Greg

Reboot modem/router.
Reboot wireless AP.
Reboot machine

Clear browser cache.
If using Firefox, try iE. Or vice versa.

Look at the status bar is it halting on a specific image/location (i.e. waiting for ads.uk.doubleclick.com)?

Here you go.

Thanks so much for your help.

I'm starting to wonder if I need to throw out the harddrive and start again.

Its very odd that only 50% of websites have gone super slow.

I'm not sure what to do with the hijackthis program but here is the logfile.

Thanks,
Greg

I have actually just cured it.

I bought AMust Registry cleaner, it found 750 odd problems, I fixed tham all and we're back up to speed.

All the websites that were taking ages to load are now lightning fast again.

Think I may do a full defrag tonight whilst I'm sleeping.

Are there any other things you can suggest that I do to keep my pc in tip top running order?

I do,

AVG scans
Spybot scans
Adaware scans
Registry scans (as of today!)

Anything else?

Many thanks for your help.

Include the Microsoft WIndows Defender too. Also, try not to "scan" as often as the rest. Its really best to leave that alone unless you have remnants of an uninstalled program or you notice something in particular that needs sorting out. If anything was to happen to the registry, well you'd be in a worse situation than a virus infection.
