I just clicked on windows update like I have done many times in the past.(I have automatic update turned off)

It is a genuine copy of XP and gets past the searching for updates thing. down loads and verifies the updates(29 high priority) then tries to install them.

I get a message all 29 instalations failed but no reason or code I can see to google for. firewall problem possibly? although I do not recal altering its settings.

any ideas? thanks in advance

Failed to install? Was this via the website or the update applette?
Try using the other method.

Usually WGA just won't let you initiate the download if it thinks your not legit.

Thats by clicking start and going up to windows update. I dont know any other method.

It gets past the windows genuine thingy and searches my system for updates and then gives me a list of updates to select.

Ive tried them one at a time it makes no difference

I then click install updates and it downloads the all saying 1 of 29 etc etc when they are all downloaded it then says installing.

sits like that for a few seconds and says instalation failed.

shocker-z
