Hi all,

I'm having a serious problem with an overclockers order that i placed at 1.40pm on Friday!

I have a contract to complete that I needed my computer for (it's being replaced - insurance claim after a robbery at the office). I have some work that needs completing by Wednesday, so I ordered the computer on Friday, called them up to make sure it would arrive on Monday (and not Saturday) which they confirmed, etc.

I phoned up on Monday to check on the order and the bloke said that because I had ordered it on Saturday it wouldn't be here until Tuesday... when I explained and he confirmed that I had ordered it on Friday he tried to claim that it was too late on Friday, which he then admitted wasn't true, and simply said sorry, there was nothing he could do. I made them refund the postage charge. He said that his couriers did not offer same-day services (even when I offered to pay) - this is something I had a quick look into and found out that they can offer.

I sat on my hands for all of Monday, getting everything ready that I physically could without the use of my main computer, and then on Tuesday morning (just now) I've called them to confirm that the order has been shipped, and once again - they haven't done anything with it, apparently a shipping note has been printed today, and it will be packed up and sent our today, for delivery tomorrow (the deadline day for my client's work)!

I quizzed the guy about why it's been such a catastrophe and he said that the warehouse staff might not have been able to find stuff in their warehouse (SINCE FRIDAY?!). I hate complaining so I levelled with him, and explained how important it was. I asked whether if I sent an Addison Lee van or drove up personally whether I could just collect the goods, which he said no too, apparently they're not willing to do anything now other than sit on my £4,000 and take the piss.

What concerns me the most is that Overclockers are normally a very good company, they're efficient (despite never answering their phones) and seem to care (when you're ordering stuff). For me to place a £4000 order, and for them to do absolutley sod all for 4 days is unacceptable. It would take me another full day to source all the parts and go and collect them (or another £500 to have them all shipped same-day) so I'm left in a pickle... All I can do is sit and hope that Overclockers actually bother to pack up my order today and get it off in the post tonight, and as for my client, I can hardly say, "I ordered replacement stuff which isn't coming fast enough, please don't blame me".

Any thoughts or suggestions on what to do? Any suggestions on how I can get the parts here today? Anyone here with a computer shop, lots of stock, and a same-day courier?

It's a great shame, if handled properly I would have forgiven them and continued using them, but there's no chance I'll be using them again, or refering anyone to them.

Can't help on the kit issue....I've also had issues with them meeting supposedly agreed delivery dates, albeit for much smaller items. You have my sympathies, but you are not alone.

Sincerely good luck with getting the project completed on time....let us know the outcome with Overclockers please.

it's pretty basic... i ordered vista though

it's an intel quad core, 4gb ram (4-4-4-15, 1000mhz ph2-8000), 3x 150gb raptor hdds, 2x 500gb hdds, 2x ATI 1950X 2000mhz crossfire cards, dell 30" display, and it's watercooled (or atleast it will be when/if it arrives!)

edited to say:

The latest little gem from Overclockers... "an order that big get's pushed to the end of the day"............... eh!?? that's customer loyalty for you, spend more, get less?

Overclockers do have a counter in Fenton, S-o-T if you fancy a ride out. So do www.ctretail.co.uk and although they haven't got the stock that o/c have they do have cheaper bits when you need them and the staff are about 10000x more helpful.

Thanks Neil, I'd considered it, but Overclockers won't let me go and pick up my order... but they will let me cancel it, and I assume re-order? However visiting them would require bringing another one of the companies directors with me, as I don't have a company card, and I'm in London, Stoke's just tooooo far.

It's tempting to go down Tottenham Court Road and grab all the bits but I'd waste a whole day, I already spent Friday morning on the Overclockers website carefully picking bits that'll work together. I'l use Computer Technology in future for some bits though, thanks for the link.

generally woeful customer service from the co in question, and they never deliver on the dates chosen on their website.

I've always received excellent service from Overclockers.

Why not PM Spie? He's the MD.

Absolutely. Perhaps he could arrange for your kit to be delivered personally, seeing as its a sizeable order to a fellow PHer. Would be good press. Fingers crossed.

I have used Overclockers many times - mainly for components but twice for complete computers. My main problem has been poor packing, e.g., a power supply and two 1Gb memory modules 'floating around' in a box - it was shear luck that the memory modules weren't smashed. Many other examples of similar bad packing. Next day delivery always seems to stretch to 2 days.

I PMd Spie last night, and have heard nothing back. Problem is, everything takes too long, it's a 3 hour drive anyway so even if it magically wound up that it was being driven down personally it's be 2pm, which would be just enough time to build it, work all night and deliver on time. I'd say there's a market for same-day, reliable and well priced computer components for seriously techy people. Overclockers just aren't cutting it any more.

I've never had a single issue with Overclockers, having used them many many times. Delivery has always been sent same day and it's only ever Amtrak that let me down. I believe they've changed couriers now though. I still recommend them.

Ok well i've spoken to them about 4 times today, and finally they claim that it's been shipped on a pre-10am delivery, however, it's missing the camera I ordered along with it, this is apparantly coming direct from Canon as OCs purchasing manager hasn't organised how to stock these items yet, that's great news - no idea on ETA.

I think one of the guys that runs OC is on the Mustang boards if you wanted to go straight to the top.
