Hi Allwavey

Is there any way to have a number field in an Access97 database accept long numbers?

I'm trying to put a 10-digit integer into the field and it's telling me it's outside the FieldSize settings (currently set to Long Integer). Is there anayway to avoid this but still be able to use the contents of the field (i.e. the number) for calculations etc?

TIA

Don

You are going to have to declare that field as a numeric. Can't remember how to do this in Access but in SQL Server you'd declare the field something like

NUMERIC(12,0)

Where the 0 is zero decimal places.

I think you need to change the field size from "long integer" to "double"
