Bit of help required folks.

Over the last few days i've noticed that my laptop has slowed down good style, followed some advice from on here and installed Spybot the other day and it showed up about 10 bits of spyware, cleared it all off and it still wasn't right. Just run the software again and it showed up the following:

I'm spending a bit of time on a well know open source site, is this where all the craps coming from?

P.S. I'm running Nortons. I've also recently taken off around 5GB of programs off to try and help.

I downloaded this, it found and repaired loads of stuff on my laptop, registry and everything. It's a trial version for 30 days, but I will be buying it, it's that good.
My laptop is so much faster now

If you've had the laptop for a couple of years, reinstalling the OS and applications from scratch will IMO often make a huge difference to the performance. A couple of times when wiping and reinstalling prior to giving the machine away the improvement has been so noticeable that it's prompted the thought that actually it's not so slow after all and it might be worth hanging on to it for a while longer.

Hi

I've had it for about a year, it's a Sony Vaio 1.7ghz with 500mb Ram so not fantatstic but not bad either.

Used to use it for 3D CAD work but i've now got a work laptop for that so this is only used for the Internet/Music etc.

I removed all the un-used software cos my hard drive was getting a bit full, is it a good idea to leave plenty ofspace on the hard drive (By now you've probably realised I don't work in IT). Don't really fancy re-loading XP, do you have any other things i could look into?

Is this stuff easy to use, as i've already mentioned i'm no computer expert and don't want to do more harm than good.

Yep its easy to use, and its the dogs , I use it on all my customer machines and recommend they buy the full version. There are several wizards built in that will guide you through the process.
