My computer is a little old now, and running on windows ME, so decided I need to upgrade to XP. I've upped the RAM on my comptuer to 450MB, but is there anything else that would need upgrading before buying XP?

What size of HDD have you?
Might want something decent sized depending on what you use the computer for.
You're motherboard or its BIOS may need upgrading to handle HDDs over 36GB.

More memory still. XP doesn't really come on song with less than 1GB.

Will run on 256Mb, runs Ok on 512Mb - but yes, if you can ramp it up to a Gig that'd be better.

A "reasonable" graphics card would be useful too.

Considering ram comes in multiples of 512 mb these days, not sure how u get 450 MB, you can get 32, 64, 128, 256 for older ones but would not recommened using different sized sticks

personally would recommend 1 GB minimum and CPU around 1 Mhz, if it is a pentium 3 or something, dont waste money

can you post the motherboard, CPU, graphics card and hard drive space to help us give more on an idea

best upgrade is a full boot drive format and fresh install, dont install xp over me unless u want lots and lots of hassle

Killer2005, I did exactly this myself...

From 64MB RAM, Windows ME (garbage!) and AMD Duron 750MHz processor with 4MB graphics card, to 512MB RAM (bought very cheaply off Ebay) and without any further changes the PC runs XP just fine!

Do it and don't get too paranoid about spec - XP really is a revelation after ME.

You'll be fine!

I think it would be sdram rather than DDR, just go to dell or *spits* pc world and spend about £400 for a pc, honestly your pc will run like a dog
