Someone wants to register dominas similar to ours

We have received the following email from a Chinese name registrant and I'd like some advice on how to handle this.

email said:

We are China Net Technology Limited, which is the domain name register center in China.I have something need to confirm with you.

we have received an application formally,one company named "Worldpro Investment Limited" applies for the domain names(mha-logistics.biz,mha-logistics.com.cn,mha-logistics.info,mha-logistics.hk etc.) and the internet Brand Name(mha-logistics)on the internet Dec 18, 2007. We need to know the opinion of your company, because the domain names and keywords may relate to the usufruct of brand name on internet.

we would like to get the affirmation of your company,please contact us by telephone or email as soon as possible. Please let someone in your company who is responsible for trademark or intellectual right contact me freely.

Our web site was hosted at www.mha-logistics.com as that was our old company name. We recently brought together two companies, changing the company name in the process and now use www.mha-ies.com as our hosted web site. www.mha-logistics.com forwards to www.mha-ies.com

I'm not too sure how to approach this but would prefer the other party not to use the domain names they have applied for. Is it just a matter that i respond to the email stating this, or will i be required to purchase the domains for ourselves?

It's more than likely scam. They are simply trying to get you to buy more domain names, more than likely at inflated prices.

Scam scam scammity scam.

I used to get phone calls from people trying this on. I loved playing with them

Worth buying them legitimately (which this isn't) at a few quid a shot though.

Ha! Where they fail is domain registration companies don't actually bother checking up on the owner of other domains. I mean, if I tried to buy Pisstonheads.com, nobody would stop me (assuming it hasn't already gone).
