I've tried searching for this on google and the like but to no avail, so I'll open it up to the PH collective! I've recently acquired an Ipod Nano, but on updating it with my MP3 collection (some of which date back many years, so originally no ID3) some of the songs are missing when going into the artist search. It seems that if the artist has say, 6 tracks and 1 track has an album name & the other 5 have no album name, it goes directly to the album and doesn't show the other 5 tracks. There is no "all" option. If you have more than 1 album then you do get multiple album selection and the "all" option. Any ideas?

Sounds like your tags are incorrect.

You can fix them using mp3tag

A quick lunch search has found this

Which is the problem I've got. Glad I didn't pay for this apple thing, my old W800 was much better IMHO!

You may not be able to see it but usually after the Artist name there will be spaces. Highlight the name (as if you are going to rename is and you should see spaces?) Just highlight every song of the artists that aren't showing up and rename them in 'edit mutiple info' so they should have the same name.
