There is a whole bunch of programs which will do this. It's something I mean to set up so that I can record comedy programmes from the BBC website and listen to them on my mobile on the train.

Start with:

Right click, 'save as' always used to work?

Get a full duplex sound card (i.e. Soundblaster Live), then use something like CoolEdit (any wave recorder should do) to record from the "what you hear" or "wave" device. You'll get the waveform without it having been through the D->A and A->D process.

I've got some software called Total Recorder that does just the job.
